Updating the Site

Since the website launched (about a week ago), I’ve attempted a few tweaks and updates that felt beneficial to its overall look and appeal. Most importantly, the official name of the site damionphoto.format.com. While still attempting to replace a few images that feature small watermarked images I didn’t notice while posting. Additionally, there are a few other minor changes I hope to apply. In the meantime. I’m confident in sharing what I hope to be an evolving website that will display and host my skills and passion. Be sure to visit. Thanks.

Insight Into the New Website.

For nearly three years now, I’ve navigated a “try, fail, try.” relationship with the idea of hosting a website for my photography work. During that time, I’ve experimented with numerous hosts and a indecisive mindset as to what images to use and what themes to base them on. Often times, scraping projects and nearly giving up on the idea. That was until my recent exploration into the age old practise of street photography. While I never saw myself returning to that art. I found a particular New York photographer whose work and website interested me. The photographers webite host, “Format” was unfamiliar to me. However, I found its templates, and ease in which to navigate and build matched my vision, and worked for me. Within a week. I built the site from scratch. Finding it easy to add pictures, while editing contact as I go. I welcome you all to check it out and tell your friends. Any feedback would be welcome and greatly appreciated, Thanks.

Over the upcoming weeks, I’ll work on the links and other related work while adding and subtracting images as needed.

Stuck on 666

It’s not often when I pay much attention to the amount of followers or traffic I get on this blog. I guess it’s safe to say that, after more than ten years of posting pictures and stories while refusing to attract sponsors or feature ads. I’m grateful to have a place to post photos and the occasional story for the folks that find and take the time to tune in. However, the recent finding that the blog is up to and stuck on 666 followers as just a little unsettling. Not that I’m religious or have any crazy superstitions. I just feel a bit unsettled being stuck on this particular number for too long. So, if you could select that follow button and take me off Satans “to-do” list. I’d greatly appreciate it and you. Thanks in advance.

On the Way

As we were approaching Everett’s home to nerdy fun, Funko, I noticed a particularly clever sign hanging from an otherwise forgettable shop. Sucks (1 of 1)“Stop the car! Stop the car!” I urged. “Did you see that?” As if it wasn’t enough that my wife found her self driving me to an adult friendly toy store, she’s now being asked to make a U-turn so her geek of a husband can snap yet another image of a roadside oddity. Knowing that her patience was already running low, I jumped out of the car and took a few shots before moving on to our destination. I later rewarded her by agreeing to stop at a nearby outlet in order for her to torture me with clothing shopping at stores I’d never have reason to visit, otherwise. Not a bad trade when you think about it.

Priced to Sell

From time to time I get emails regarding the possibility of purchasing images they see on the blog. As recent as last week I sold a poster of a particular image to someone who has visited the blog on a regular basis for years now. Due to some recent inquiries I thought it would make sense to let people know that all of the images seen on Photogeek are available for purchase in various sizes and formats. Feel free to contact me at damionphoto@gmail.com with any questions or inquiries. Geek_          I offer everything from 5X7 matted prints to posters and aluminum prints. When contacting me, please be aware that I use one of, if not the best lab in the country and possibly the world. I do not, under any circumstances, send files through the mail. When making contact. Be sure to let me know what image you’re interested in. (Date of blog post might be the best approach.) As well as  your preference for size is so I can quote you the right price. All payments are to be made to my Paypal account. No exceptions. Thank you very much for your interest.

New Additions to Damion Photo

Beach-2Last night I added a KIDS section to Damion Photo which includes studio and location shots taken at local parks and  beaches. Working with children and families has been one of the most rewarding parts of my photography life. Something I hope to dive head first back into in the coming months. I’m currently booking Spring sessions which include visiting clients homes where  kids seem most comfortable. I also plan to continue taking advantage of Hoboken’s Parks and beautiful Hudson River view. There will be many updates and additions in the coming days, weeks and months. Come visit and watch for the coming updates.                                                  Yours Truly,                                                                                    The Photo Geek

Updates and Additions to Damion Photo

Last week I took some time to work on the website to make it a little more professional and user friendly. I changed to Portfolio section, instead featuring separate pages for my Studio, Location and Boudoir work. I’ve also added a testimonial section and improved the contact page. In the coming weeks I’ll be adding a kids/family section while adding additional testimonials.               I’ve linked the page below. Your thoughts and critiques are welcome here and privately. I’d love to hear from you.

The Shirt Off Your Back

Earlier this week I received an email request from a band asking to use one of my images for some shirt designs they were working on. The request, one that would most likely have me beaming with pride in the past. Left me with more mixed emotions than I ever thought I would have. Feelings ranging from surprise, feeling somewhat honored and even a bit uneasy came and went. Sure it was cool to have someone appreciate your work and even want to use it to promote their art.  But as selfish as it might look. I couldn’t help but think, “Well, what’s in it for me?” There was no offer of money, product or   a percentage share in future groupie earnings.  Considering the band is asking for a copy of the image that doesn’t bare my standard watermark. No one is really going to know or care who took the shot. No one will know it’s my work. So it is in no way promoting my so called brand. Later that day, after much consideration, I asked the band for a big bag of filthy money and a stolen truck filled with shirts. I’m still not sure it will happen in the end. Until then.
