Making Room and Letting Go.

Over the last few weeks and most of last night. I’ve been deleting images and music files from the last twenty years or so. As a photographer whose studio sessions often lasted forty minutes to an hour and a admitted music nerd and senior editor at an online indie rock blog. My itunes contains over 6,500 albums. More than I can ever get around to listening to and more than my laptop can ever hold. So, with my computer sending me constant messages, my wife standing over me waving her finger and me wondering what I’m hangin on to. I’ve begun the task of deleting old files and making room for new ones. It’s a lot harder than originally imagined, but it must be done. I took the pictures below, many years ago when I was living in Hoboken, NJ and a member of downtown New York’s S.O.H.O. Photo Gallery. Though I don’t recall the model’s name. She was an absolute joy to be around. In the future, don’t be like me. Overpopulating your hard drive or the boxes in your closet with images you don’t love. When reviewing. Be vicious.

Looking Back; Municipal Waste

I’ve been going through some old picture folders (Something I’ve been doing as I have come to realize some aspects of my photography are coming, or have come to an end.) and deciding what to delete and what to save. During this process I’ve found a number of photos that were never edited or just needed a bit of TLC. Going back about ten years. I found some images from a Municipal Waste V.F.W. show. At the time, I knew nothing, other than the name, about the band. Something I grew to love, considering all the times I became a devotee to a band I was seeing and hearing for the first time. Upon coming across images from that particular show. I took a few minutes to make a few adjustments and do a little cropping. Thanks to my newly acquired Lightroom knowledge, I was pretty happy with the results.

Texture

I took this one today while admiring the cool little nooks and crannies of SODO Seattle’s downtown Starbucks headquarters. Just a reminder that, no matter where you go, there’s always an opportunity to be creative. With just a little post editing in lightoroom, I added some texture by slightly adjusting the contrast, shadows and highlights of a picture I took with my phone.
