Alternative Plans

Upon hearing that, due to her heart problem, my step mother had not been vaccinated. We wisely decided to change our plans to sit in labor day weekend traffic and head south to Baltimore for some crate digging at Celebrated Summer Records and enjoy violently attacking crabs in order to rob them of their juicy insides. (Poor undeserving things.) All jokes aside, L.P. Steamers is out of this world. Before arriving, we passed a number of places I wanted to stop and take pictures. This river and the Domino Sugar factory just across the way, were just one of the stops we made. The bench image was taken in Baltimore’s Little Italy.

What’s In Your Bag?

Over the weekend I decided to pull the trigger and purchase the Canon 70-200 f4 USM telephoto lens. The choice came after almost a year of researching, second guessing and ultimately deciding on purchasing a much more budget friendly and lighter version of Canons 2.8 version, which retails at around $1,950.00. 00. It will be my first zoom lens since I purchased the Cannon f 2.8 28-135 (Not pictured here) some years ago. Adding it to my other lenses. The EF 85mm 1:18, EF 28mm 1:18, EF 50mm 1:1.4, EF 50mm 1:1.8, 40mm 0.3m/0.98ft (also not pictured here) and my trusted 15mm 1:28. And while it might seem like too much. Each lens has served a purpose and more than justified the money invested. As the lens is due to arrive on Thursday of this week. I hope and plan to use it as early as this weekend. Here’s to new glass.

Vacation Pictures

blogi-1-of-1As my first visit to New Orleans began to unfold. I really began to rethink my choice to make it seem like such a photo based trip. While there was a undeniable excitement surrounding my first trip to what was both a historic and storied destination. I couldn’t help but notice what a distraction having my camera had become.

When I look at the images featured here. I can’t help but feel that wherever I go, whether it’s just outside my door or a distant corner of the world. The most important thing is the people I meet and what they teach me about the places I’m visiting. Maybe I’ll stick to my cell phone the next time I travel. Stick to pictures of the people I’ve travelled with and the ones I’ve met.
